Zain Donates JOD 3 Million to Establish Wi-Fi Networks in 1,500 Public Schools

Amman, 25 January 2026:
The Minister of Education, Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, received at his office— in the presence of the Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Eng. Sami Smeirat— the Chief Executive Officer of Zain Jordan, Fahd Al-Jassim, to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation in digital transformation within the education sector and to support national efforts aimed at developing the educational environment and improving the quality of education. During the meeting, Al-Jassim announced Zain’s donation of JOD 3 million to establish Wi-Fi networks in 1,500 public schools.

Dr. Mahafzah emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships in supporting and advancing the educational process, noting that such partnerships represent a fundamental pillar in the implementation of national projects and in strengthening digital infrastructure in schools, which positively reflects on the quality of education and learning outcomes.

He explained that Zain’s support embodies the concept of corporate social responsibility and underscores the role of the private sector as an active partner in achieving sustainable development, contributing to empowering students and teachers with modern educational tools and building a generation capable of keeping pace with rapid technological advancements.

Dr. Mahafzah expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Zain for this qualitative initiative, which reflects the company’s commitment to its social responsibility and its role in helping build a technologically capable generation.

For his part, Eng. Smeirat stated that the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship had recently signed an agreement with Zain Jordan to provide Wi-Fi solutions in public schools, with a total value of JOD 3 million, aimed at developing digital infrastructure in government schools.

He added that the agreement seeks to deliver wireless internet services to classrooms in a number of schools, enabling students and teachers to use modern technologies and digital learning tools in line with the requirements of the modern era.

Eng. Smeirat also affirmed that the agreement represents one of the joint projects between the Ministries of Digital Economy and Education within the framework of digital transformation and its importance in developing the educational process. He highlighted its pivotal role in enhancing students’ digital skills, providing an interactive learning environment, supporting innovation, and achieving equity in access to modern learning resources—particularly in light of the accelerating challenges facing the education sector.

Through this initiative, Zain Jordan renews its commitment to supporting the education sector and contributing to digital transformation, stemming from its dedication to continuing its active role in community service and contributing to progress across various sectors, including education. This reflects the company’s belief in the importance of investing in education as a fundamental pillar of sustainable development and future-building.

The project will cover 1,500 public schools across all governorates of the Kingdom, with the aim of reaching the largest possible number of beneficiaries nationwide.
