Zain Continues Its Environmental Commitment with Its Fifth Participation in Red Sea Cleanup in Cooperation with ProjectSea

Aqaba, December 9, 2025: Zain Jordan renewed its commitment to protecting the marine environment and promoting sustainability in the city of Aqaba through its fifth participation in a Red Sea seabed cleanup campaign in the Gulf of Aqaba, in cooperation with the charitable awareness initiative “ProjectSea.”

During the campaign, approximately 100 kilograms of waste and debris were removed from the seabed of the Red Sea, bringing the total amount Zain has helped extract through its successive participations to around 380 kilograms. The collected materials included plastic and metal waste, remnants of fishing gear, and other pollutants that harm the marine ecosystem.

Zain’s participation in this campaign comes as part of its ongoing efforts to raise awareness of the importance of preserving the marine environment, encourage visitors to Aqaba’s beaches to adopt responsible practices that help keep the Red Sea clean, and reinforce Aqaba’s position as a distinctive tourist destination and a bright image of “Jordan’s smiling gateway.” This initiative also falls within Zain’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals adopted across all its programs and initiatives, particularly Goal 6 “Clean Water and Sanitation,” Goal 14 “Life Below Water,” and Goal 17 “Partnerships for the Goals.”

It is worth noting that the charitable awareness initiative “ProjectSea”—founded by Saif Al-Madannat and Bisan Al-Sharif—has, over the past four years, organized 52 Red Sea seabed cleanup campaigns involving more than 630 volunteers from 52 nationalities. Since its launch, the initiative has contributed to the removal of more than 315,000 pieces of waste weighing over 17 tons, most of which were plastic. ProjectSea aims to help reduce the threat of plastic waste to the marine environment—which can take decades to decompose—while also raising awareness about the dangers of littering on beaches and in the sea.
