Zain Lights Its Buildings in Purple in Celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Amman, 3 December 2025: In alignment with its steadfast commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in society, and as part of its initiatives and programs supporting persons with disabilities, Zain Jordan illuminated its buildings on King Abdullah II Street in Amman in purple, in celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. This gesture reflects the company’s vision of empowering this segment of society and ensuring their full inclusion.

Zain places special emphasis on supporting persons with disabilities by integrating them into its service ecosystem, programs, and initiatives, while leveraging modern technology to develop innovative solutions that ensure easy and independent access to all the services it provides. Zain is committed to preparing all its buildings and retail shops to be accessible and accommodating environments for its customers and employees with disabilities, ensuring ease of movement and access to services without barriers. The company also shares awareness materials and videos across its social media platforms to raise public awareness on disability issues and promote a culture of inclusion.

Over the past years, Zain has developed a comprehensive system of pioneering solutions supporting persons with disabilities, most notably the services offered through the “Basma+” line, the first of its kind in the Kingdom and dedicated to the Deaf and hard of hearing since its launch in 2015. The line provides users with a 25 GB internet bundle and 3,000 video call minutes, granting them greater flexibility in their daily and professional interactions.

Zain also provides its Deaf customers with a specialized customer service center staffed by Deaf employees, available for communication through the Zain app daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Additionally, all Zain retail shops offer tablets equipped with real-time sign language interpretation services, enabling direct support to address inquiries, needs, and service solutions.

Zain is also the first telecom company to support the toll-free emergency hotline for the Deaf in 2014, established through a fruitful partnership between Zain, the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and the Command and Control Center at the Public Security Directorate. The hotline received first place in the Zero Project on Inclusive Education ICT program. The company continued its support by enabling the smartphone emergency call application (114) for the Deaf, launched by the Public Security Directorate in 2023.

In a first-of-its-kind regional initiative, Zain has made mobile service subscription contracts available through audio-visual video formats for customers with hearing and visual disabilities. These contracts can be accessed by scanning a QR code available in all Zain shops, ensuring clear and comprehensive understanding of contract details and strengthening the independence of subscribers in making informed decisions.
