Amman, December 19, 2024: As part of its ongoing initiatives towards the people of Gaza, which it began at the start of the brutal aggression on the region more than a year ago, Zain Jordan announced the dispatch of a new truck carrying winter aid, including coats and blankets, in collaboration with the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization.
The aid consisted of winter blankets and coats for both children and adults, presented as a gift from Zain and its employees who contributed to the company's recent fundraising campaign to support the people of Gaza. This initiative is part of the unified Jordanian stance to help alleviate the suffering of the people in Gaza by providing protection from the harsh winter conditions amid the continuing occupation crimes.
The dispatch of the aid is part of Zain's annual winter campaign, aimed at supporting needy families in preparation for the winter season. This year, Zain began the campaign by distributing heaters and fuel vouchers across the Kingdom. For the second year in a row, the company made sure to include the people of Gaza in this campaign, which embodies Jordanian solidarity, human values, community cooperation, and humanitarian relief.
Zain confirmed its commitment to continuing its support for Gaza, based on its social and national responsibility. The company has launched various programs and initiatives since the beginning of the aggression on the region, including the recent donation of 90 devices for Negative Pressure Wound Therapy, delivered in collaboration with the Royal Medical Services to the field hospitals operating in Gaza. Additionally, the company made a cash donation of 100,000 Jordanian Dinars, while its subscribers contributed 9,024 Dinars and 17,700 Dinars from Zain employees to provide urgent humanitarian aid, including purchasing medicines, medical supplies for Palestinian hospitals, and food items, in cooperation with the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization.
Zain has launched a series of initiatives to support the resilient Palestinian people in Gaza. Previously, the company offered all its subscribers (both individual and corporate bill payers, as well as prepaid lines) 1,000 free minutes to call the Palestinian mobile network, allowing them to stay in constant contact with their families in Palestine and provide emotional support. Furthermore, Zain Cash, in collaboration with the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization, enabled its users to donate through the Zain Cash app. As a result, Jordanians, both individuals and institutions, rallied to donate to their Palestinian brothers and sisters. The Higher Committee for Reconstruction in Palestine, formed by the Engineers and Contractors Associations, in cooperation with Zain Cash, launched the "Gaza Together We Support It: Housing and Reconstruction" campaign, which raised 500,000 Jordanian Dinars for Gaza's relief and reconstruction amidst the unprecedented destruction caused by the brutal aggression.
Earlier, in a symbolic and emotional gesture, Zain changed its network name to "GAZA" on subscribers' phones, making it a symbol of pride and resilience. The company also organized solidarity events for its employees in front of its headquarters on King Abdullah II Street, which included a minute of silence to honor the souls of the martyrs.
