 Zain Data Storage Center (Bunker) receives Tier III International Certificate 2019




Zain Center for Data storage and Disaster Recovery at the King Hussein Business Park has received Tier III certificate for the design of data centers worldwide, accredited by the Uptime Institute, Global.

The certificate enhances the role of Zain’s data center that ensures the protection and security of data at the highest levels and in accordance with international standards. The certificate was awarded to the bunker after a comprehensive evaluation of the level of infrastructure performance, including 24 hours of service availability, Carry out maintenance or replace any power equipment or accessories with the possibility of running the center non-stop.

The Bunker has many characteristics that make it distinctive, including its fortified position where it is located at 12 meters below the surface of the earth, and contain the walls of concrete resistant to natural disasters, and the existence of systems of protection from nuclear strikes, and thus is the first and only position in the region, which is characterized by these characteristics, In the list of the most sophisticated centers in the world.
 
The Bunker’s services will be available for data recovery and disaster recovery for government institutions and local and regional companies operating in various sectors such as finance, health, education, insurance and aviation. 

The center is equipped with the latest servers, security devices and power saving devices (UPS) connected to the main power supply to ensure that the uninterruptible power supply is routed to the service center devices which operate on two different tracks to ensure service is provided in case of interruption of one of the tracks. Data rooms include energy-saving in-row-cooling units. The center will be monitored and managed by a team of IT professionals, as well as 24-hour security and monitoring devices, monitors all systems and devices, D sensors for fire detection system and fire alarm system and sensors to detect water leaks and moisture control sensors.

The center relies on fiber optic technology that connects the data center with international cables, allowing companies to expand and benefit from international growth potential. Last year, Zain signed an agreement with the King Hussein Business park to establish the center after winning a bid to lease, rehabilitate, construct, operate and operate the center for 20 years. The center is expected to be commercially ready in the first quarter of next year.
